SOAR GATHERING TO BRING TOGETHER 1,000 INDIGENOUS ENTREPRENEURS

On September 15, 2022, more than 1,000 Indigenous entrepreneurs from across Canada will come together online for the inaugural SOAR Digital Gathering of Indigenous Entrepreneurs presented by Square in partnership with Futurpreneur

Emceed by serial entrepreneur and author Sunshine Tenasco, SOAR is an Indigenous-led grassroots initiative featuring keynotes by Bobbie Jo Racette, Founder of Virtual Gurus and 2-Spirit Woodland Artist Patrick Hunter; ten workshops with 40 trend-setting Indigenous entrepreneurs; three mini-workshops showcasing and sharing Indigenous culture; a spoken word performance by SacRED; and a qulliq burning ceremony by Inuk founder of Uasau Soap, Bernice Clark.

Sessions hit at the heart of the moment for Indigenous entrepreneurs with sessions like ‘Breaking through the Struggle,’ ‘Money as Medicine,’ and ‘Decolonizing Entrepreneurship.’

Attendees also have the opportunity to hear about the different experiences in building a successful business in the North and ‘On the Rez’; to learn from others in the creative, tech, consumer products, services and food industries; and to network with other Indigenous entrepreneurs from across the country.

“We’re inspired by the spirit of encouragement, friendship and collaboration and we’re excited to bring together more than 1,000 Indigenous entrepreneurs for a digital gathering with SOAR,” said Courtney Robinson, Global Head of Financial Inclusion, Square. “We hope this Indigenous-led grassroots initiative will help Indigenous entrepreneurs across Canada SOAR together to new heights.”

“Indigenous entrepreneurship is full of creativity, innovation, and community connection! SOAR Digital Gathering of Indigenous Entrepreneurs offers a dedicated and inclusive space and time for Indigenous entrepreneurs across the country to connect, learn, explore, network, and celebrate together,” said Holly Atjecoutay, Indigenous Entrepreneur Startup Program Manager at Futurpreneur. “Futurpreneur is excited for our partnership with SOAR and honoured to be involved in this Indigenous entrepreneurship collaboration grounded in sacred teachings.”

Registration is free for Indigenous people and will remain open until midnight on September 14, 2022. Registrants will also be provided on-demand access to the conference content to watch back sessions they missed or want to watch again.
